STREETS PEDESTRIAN
The SRGS is the Spanish Association for the prevention of falls in pedestrian traffic. The same as the UKSRG (UK Slip Resistance Group) counterpart, it is the leading independent authority for slip resistance. Our common goals include a greater understanding of causes and solutions to falls from slips, trips and falls.
In Spain, nearly 1,000,000 older people are injured outside their homes, and 1,500,000 accidents occurr. This means an accident rate of 12.8% of the population over 65 years.

The slipperiness of floors should be treated with greater interest by all the stakeholders involved due to the importance of the problem caused by serious injuries after falls. This is the most important element when entering in the different spaces in which we develop our activities of daily life, and therefore should be particularly safe and comfortable for all users.
The floors must be adequate to the spaces where they are installed for the intended conditions of use, attending to criteria of comfort and safety of the users. It is important to have a good knowledge of the place, the users and the intended use, defining the fundamental characteristics that must be kept unchanged for a reasonable period of time.
All involved in creating the spaces (architects, engineers, public and private managers, manufacturers, laboratories, builders, maintenance and conservation companies) are responsible for the materials used and installed in the project and must preserve the health and safety of all users.
